In December
2002, Van Weenen's Estate Agents opened it’s doors in
the High Street, close to the market square, in the attractive
market town of Olney in Buckinghamshire, with the added advantage
of having ‘ample free parking’ right outside the
office.
Being a small independent family business, my son Haydn was
the ideal person to lead the team. Furthermore, he was delighted
to be back in Olney, the town where he first began his career
in estate agency back in the Nineties.
Having worked extensively in the Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire
and Northamptonshire area, he was instrumental in the success
of several companies, and it was this that inspired him to open
his own office.
After nearly five years of trading in Olney, our company is fast
gaining a reputation in the town for being honest and forthright.
Haydn is very much a realist and would be happy to answer any
questions, or any advice on todays housing market and
in particular, the real value of your home.
Both
Haydn and I are very proud of our experienced staff, as they
are our product. We are indeed fortunate to have
Angie Davies who has been with the company since the beginning.
Angie has previously worked as a Manager for The Halifax
Building Society, and is very much geared in Customer
service.
Angie’s main role is taking care of the problems
arising as a sale progresses towards completion. “Has
rescued many a sale”!! In Haydn’s opinion Angie has the
most difficult job in the office. Yet is delighted by
how many commendation letters he receives about her. She
has three teenage children, and enjoys dancing, cooking
and travelling to new places.
Vanessa Lumley Wood is our Negotiator, and has lived in Olney for the last ten years. She is married and has two young children. Vanessa comes to us from a professional background in Accounting and Finance, and is passionate about property. Her hobbies include walking her two dogs, aerobics and painting.
Although
my own experience of Estate Agency was somewhat limited, I appear
to have injected a measure of realism, gained from 40 years'
teaching practice, a fair business track record, and a thirteen
year involvement in the Balkans, as the director of a British
Charity.
I believe this has worked to the company's advantage. Instead
of looking to see what the opposition were doing, I looked at
Estate Agency with a ‘fresh pair of eyes’. I found
some practices within the industry totally unacceptable, as
too was the lack of concern in many offices for the basic essentials
of honesty and integrity.
Van Weenen's has started as it means to go on, and whilst we
simply cannot 'right all the wrongs' within the profession,
we can, and will, make every effort humanly possible to make
a first class impression upon you, so you feel proud to recommend
us to friends and family.
In the years ahead, the whole Van Weenen team, led by Haydn,
look forward with great enthusiasm to working on behalf of the
people of Olney and its surrounding villages, and offering a
service 'second to none'.
